Shah Rukh Khan calls family his north star in interview

Shah Rukh Khan described his children as his biggest critics in an exclusive interview, stating that his family keeps him grounded as his north star. He credited time spent with family during the pandemic for his successful comeback. He also discussed collaborations with his children in the Lion King franchise.

Shah Rukh Khan took a long break after the 2018 film Zero's underwhelming reception, which extended to four years due to the pandemic. He made a strong return with Pathaan, Jawan, and Dunki. In an exclusive interview with SCREEN, he said, 'My children are my best critics! My family is my North Star who keeps me grounded and reminds me of what truly matters, no matter how busy life becomes.' He added that legacy is defined not just by professional achievements but by values and memories shared with family.

The actor highlighted his bond with his three children—Aryan, Suhana, and AbRam. The pandemic allowed him undivided time with them, helping him appreciate what he values. In the Lion King franchise, Shah Rukh voiced Mufasa in the 2019 remake, while Aryan debuted as Simba. AbRam voiced the younger Mufasa in Barry Jenkins' Mufasa. Shah Rukh stated, 'I’m incredibly proud of my children. It’s been a privilege watching them come into their own as performers and individuals.'

Aryan made his directorial debut last year with The Ba***ds of Bollywood on Netflix. Suhana is set to star alongside her father in the action thriller King, slated for Christmas release. Shah Rukh shared memories of watching The Lion King during family movie nights. He mentioned losing his father at 15 and hopes to guide his children with love while giving them freedom to chart their own paths.

Recalling feelings of being lost in Mumbai after moving from Delhi, he found comfort by the sea, describing it as a quiet companion. He now resides at Mannat, facing the Arabian Sea. Shah Rukh is excited to narrate The Lion King for the Disney Cruise Line Adventure.
