Six Tabasco police officers detained over alleged links to La Barredora

Authorities in Tabasco arrested six members of the Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection for alleged ties to the criminal group La Barredora. The operation was carried out as a surprise inside the agency's facilities. Sources link the detentions to the prior arrest of a former operational director.

A total of six members of the Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection (SSPC) in Tabasco were detained during a surprise operation inside the agency's own facilities. The arrests stem from alleged links to the criminal group known as La Barredora.

According to unofficial sources, these detentions are connected to the capture of Arturo Leyva, former operational director of the SSPC in Tabasco, who was apprehended days earlier in the state of Chiapas. Government Secretary José Ramiro López Obrador confirmed that other implicated police officers remain at large after fleeing.

López Obrador stated that several investigation files remain open, stemming from citizen complaints. State authorities are closely monitoring these cases to assign responsibilities and combat corruption within security forces. This event highlights ongoing efforts to purge corrupt elements from Tabasco's police ranks.
