A tragic incident unfolded in Rajkot city, Gujarat, on November 2, 2025, where a son named Rishabh killed his father Kalpeshbhai. Kalpeshbhai had been addicted to alcohol for years, and his liver was damaged, leading to constant family disputes. About one and a half months prior, Kalpeshbhai had been admitted to a private hospital, with Rishabh caring for him.
On Saturday, an argument erupted at home. Rishabh told his father, 'Due to your drinking habit, all the money has been spent on your treatment, yet you haven't reformed. You won't quit your habit. Fed up with your ways, my mother and I have separated.' This enraged Kalpeshbhai further, and he began abusing Rishabh. In a fit of anger, Rishabh punched his father two to three times on the chest, and also struck his stomach and face. In an inebriated state, Kalpeshbhai fell and became unconscious.
Rishabh went to sleep that night, but the next morning, his father did not wake up. Rishabh called his uncle Hiteshbhai, who arrived at the scene and found Kalpeshbhai's body. The victim's elder brother filed a complaint at the police station. Based on the postmortem report, police identified injuries to the head, jaw, ribs, and stomach as the preliminary cause of death. Rishabh has been taken into custody under Section 105 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, and the investigation is ongoing. The case highlights the tensions arising from alcohol addiction within families.
