South African teams set for united rugby championship quarterfinals

Three South African sides qualified for the United Rugby Championship quarterfinals, with the Stormers, Bulls and Lions all advancing after the league phase concluded.

The Stormers ended the regular season in third place after a 22-16 loss to Cardiff last Friday. They will host the same team in a quarterfinal at DHL Stadium on 30 May.

John Dobson, the Stormers director of rugby, said his team had wasted opportunities in recent matches. He added that the squad would regroup quickly ahead of the knockout fixture.

The Bulls secured fourth position with a 45-19 victory over Benetton and will face Munster at Loftus Versfeld on the same day. The Lions earned their first quarterfinal appearance and will travel to meet Leinster in Dublin on 30 May.
