The Pittsburgh Steelers concluded their 2026 offseason practices in mid-June and will start training camp in late July at Saint Vincent College in Latrobe. The team has released outlooks for three players on the current roster.
Offensive lineman Doug Nester joined the Steelers practice squad in 2024 after going undrafted with the Minnesota Vikings. He played 119 offensive snaps in the 2025 preseason and remains on the 91-man roster this summer but is expected to start the regular season on the practice squad.
Running back Lew Nichols signed with the Steelers during 2025 training camp after stints with the Green Bay Packers and Philadelphia Eagles. He recorded 87 rushing yards in the 2025 preseason and is viewed as a candidate for the practice squad again given the depth at the position.
Rookie fullback and tight end Riley Nowakowski was selected in the fifth round of the 2026 NFL Draft out of Indiana. He is projected to make the initial 53-man roster and contribute primarily on special teams with limited offensive snaps.
