The Supreme Court issued a press briefer on Wednesday, April 8, stating it did not grant a temporary restraining order on Vice President Sara Duterte's petition for certiorari and prohibition. The court consolidated the related cases and directed the House Committee on Justice to comment within a non-extendible 10 days from receipt of notice.
Rep. Terry Ridon of Bicol Saro Partylist, a Justice Committee member, said hearings on the impeachment complaints will continue on April 14 without a TRO. The committee deemed the complaints sufficient in grounds on March 18 and is now reviewing evidence, witnesses, and memoranda.
The committee is handling two of four impeachment complaints, after dismissing one over the one-year bar rule and the withdrawal of another. These echo allegations from a 2025 attempt, including misuse of confidential funds, bribery, and violations of the 1987 Constitution.
