Tim Price rides at Kentucky and Badminton with broken collarbone

Event rider Tim Price has described competing at two five-star events this spring after breaking his collarbone in a cycling accident just before the Defender Kentucky Three-Day Event.

The accident occurred on the Saturday prior to Kentucky week while Price was preparing horses at Oudkarspel in the Netherlands. He underwent surgery that evening to insert plates in his clavicle before flying to the United States the following day.

Britain’s Tom McEwen secured third place in the five-star dressage at the Defender Kentucky Three-Day Event with a score of 25.1. Elizabeth Barratt claimed third in the Cosequin Lexington CCI4*-S class scoring 29.7. Both riders praised their horses after tests on 24 April.

European eventing champion Laura Collett has re-injured her collarbone in a training fall and will undergo surgery. She has resumed competition, placing strongly in dressage at Burnham Market last week while aiming for the Mars Badminton Horse Trials. Her mother, Mary King, confirmed the injuries and detailed her recent progress.

David Doel moved up to fourth place overall as the leading British rider following the cross-country phase at the Defender Kentucky Three-Day Event on April 25.
