Tom Ravenscroft joins Double J for Friday mornings

Acclaimed BBC broadcaster Tom Ravenscroft is set to host Friday Mornings on Double J, bringing his expertise in underground music to Australian listeners. The station also announced the return of the Take 5 podcast with Zan Rowe and a new program called The Dinner Mix.

Double J has announced that Tom Ravenscroft, a celebrated DJ and radio presenter with over three decades in underground music, will join its lineup to host Friday Mornings starting from 9am. Ravenscroft spent 16 years on BBC Radio 6 Music, where his shows became known as trusted destinations for new music discoveries and forgotten gems. He plans to blend fresh cuts with classics and long-lost favorites, drawing on his DJ career that began at free parties and extended to major festivals worldwide.

"I'm absolutely thrilled to be joining the Double J family, a station with such a strong musical spirit and sense of community," Ravenscroft said. "I look forward to sharing all my favourite new discoveries and exploring all the great music Australia has to offer."

Listeners can follow Ravenscroft's show with hosts Karen Leng and Dylan Lewis leading into the afternoon. The weekend programming includes 00s Night from 5pm, featuring hits from the 2000s, followed by The Block Party with Hau Latukefu.

Additionally, Double J's Take 5 podcast with Zan Rowe returns on Thursday, March 12, with new episodes where guests share their five favorite songs. The podcast is available on ABC Listen or Thursdays from 7pm on Double J.

A new addition to the schedule is The Dinner Mix, a hand-curated selection of tunes for mealtimes, hosted by Adalita starting March 5 on Thursdays from 6pm.
