Uppsala Municipality adopts guidelines for LSS assessments

Uppsala Municipality's care board decided on 16 June on new guidelines for needs assessment under LSS. The guidelines aim to strengthen the individual's influence and participation in the process.

The guidelines were developed in collaboration with Funktionsrätt Uppsala. They emphasize that the case officer should support the individual throughout the process and that the applicant's own description of needs should be central.

The decision means that interventions under LSS should not be limited to a minimum level or routinely time-limited. Relatives' knowledge should also be considered to understand the individual's situation.

Lena Thalén, head of authority at the care and social services administration, highlights the importance of dialogue with those affected. Implementation of the guidelines is ongoing over the coming months.
