A woman born in 1967 was hit and killed Sunday morning by an Audi RS3 traveling over 100 km/h near the Opéra in Paris.
The crash occurred shortly before 8:30 a.m. as the victim crossed a pedestrian walkway at the corner of Avenue de l’Opéra and Rue Danielle Casanova. The impact threw her more than 20 meters, and she died despite rescue efforts.
The vehicle, a black Audi RS3 registered in Poland, fled the scene. Two occupants were arrested in the 18th arrondissement on Rue Cavé by BAC 18 officers. Drugs were found inside the car. A third person is sought, and the driver’s identity remains unknown.
Paris prosecutors opened an investigation for road homicide with aggravating circumstances, including deliberate fault and hit-and-run. The case was assigned to the judicial accident treatment service.
