Yungblud kicks off Idols UK arena tour in Sheffield

Yungblud returned to his Yorkshire roots to launch the UK arena leg of his Idols world tour at Sheffield's Utilita Arena on April 11. The Doncaster-born artist, whose real name is Dominic Harrison, delivered a set heavy on tracks from his recent Idols album. He celebrated the homecoming with emotional messages to the crowd.

Dominic Harrison, known as Yungblud, played the first show of an extended run of UK arena dates at Sheffield’s Utilita Arena on Saturday night. The performance marked the start of the UK leg of his Idols world tour, which was expanded last October due to high demand. Fresh off releasing the second half of Idols, his One More Time EP with Aerosmith, and his first Grammy win, Yungblud leaned heavily on new material while reviving his cover of Ozzy Osbourne’s Changes and his Aerosmith collaboration My Only Angel. The setlist included Hello Heaven, Hello; The Funeral; Idols Pt. I; Lovesick Lullaby; Fleabag; Lowlife; I Need You (To Make The World Seem Fine); Fire; Superdeadfriends; and Loner, closing with an encore of Ghosts, Zombie, and Suburban Requiem. “This album, ‘Idols’, was made in Yorkshire and we brought it home tonight,” Yungblud told the crowd. “Thank you from the bottom of my heart... If you’re from Yorkshire I love you. If you are not, I love you too but just a little bit less. I’m joking!” As the show ended, he added: “I cannot believe that this community, this family, is getting this big. I could fucking cry right now. You mean everything to me.” Yungblud has more dates lined up this month in Liverpool, Belfast, Dublin, Leeds, Cardiff, Glasgow, Newcastle, Birmingham, London, and Manchester.
