Arm and Linaro have announced the formation of CoreCollective, a new industry consortium aimed at fostering collaboration in the Arm software ecosystem. The initiative includes major players such as AMD, Canonical, Google, Huawei, Qualcomm, and Red Hat. It seeks to address growing software complexities across various sectors like AI and cloud computing.

The Linux kernel version 7.0 now includes support for Arm's 64-byte single-copy atomic instructions, known as LS64 and LS64V. This update enables more efficient atomic operations on compatible Arm hardware. Phoronix reports the implementation as a key enhancement for Arm64 Linux systems.

Google is undertaking a massive shift from x86 servers to its homegrown Arm-powered Axion machines. This ambitious project involves porting internal workloads for the world's biggest companies. Around 30,000 applications have already been successfully converted to Arm systems.
