Deadline extended for 1 million birr AI music talent contest

Fana Media Corporation and the Ethiopian Artificial Intelligence Institute have extended the submission deadline to Megabit 14, 2018, for their joint AI-powered music talent contest with a 1 million birr prize. Participants are actively submitting works in Addis Ababa.

Following the collaboration agreement announced on Ketit 27, 2018, which launched the contest to advance Ethiopia's creative industry through AI technology and commemorate the Battle of Adwa, organizers have extended the submission period. The policy, announced on January 14, 2026, allows users to flag suspected AI content for review and removal. This move contrasts with other streaming services grappling with an influx of AI-produced tracks.

More than 33,502 Ethiopians have registered for a human-evaluated AI music competition organized by the Ethiopian Artificial Intelligence Institute and Fana Media Corporation. So far, 589 participants have submitted their works. The winner will receive a 1 million birr prize.
