A 12-year-old girl died on Saturday afternoon at Costacabana beach in Almería after disappearing in the water.
Emergency services received a call to 112 at 18:55 on Friday reporting the disappearance of the girl at the last breakwater on the beach toward El Alquián.
The response immediately involved the Guardia Civil, Policía Nacional, Policía Local, Centro de Emergencias Sanitarias 061, Salvamento Marítimo, Servicio de Playas and Protección Civil. A mobile intensive care unit and a medical team from La Cañada were dispatched to the scene.
Despite efforts by medical staff to revive her, the girl was pronounced dead. Police sources confirmed that the judicial protocol was activated.
