A$AP Rocky releases psychedelic single Punk Rocky

A$AP Rocky has unveiled 'Punk Rocky,' the lead track from his upcoming album Don't Be Dumb, set for release on January 16. The song features a psych-rock sound and a star-studded music video. This marks his first major release since 2018's TESTING.

A$AP Rocky dropped 'Punk Rocky' on January 5, introducing fans to the psychedelic direction of his long-awaited album Don't Be Dumb, due out January 16 via A$AP Worldwide/RCA Records. Co-written by Rocky alongside Cristoforo Donadi (known as Ghost), Zach Fogarty, and Ging (formerly Frank Dukes), the track blends psych-rock elements with heartfelt lyrics exploring themes of heartbreak. Key lines include: “She ain’t gon’ be in my life no more/ Got me crying in the microphone/ Let me shout on the megaphone/ That ho ain’t my type no more.” While the subject remains unclear, speculation avoids linking it directly to Rocky's relationship with Rihanna.

The accompanying music video, co-directed by Rocky with Folkert Verdoorn and Simon Becks, features notable appearances by Winona Ryder, Danny Elfman, Thundercat, and A$AP Nast. It showcases five of the six alter egos from Don't Be Dumb: Rocky as GR1M, Tommy Revenge as RUGAHAND, Thoto as BABUSHKA BOI, the Williams twins as SHIRTHEAD, and DUMMY. This creative showcase highlights Rocky's evolving artistic personas.

Rocky's previous full-length album, TESTING, arrived in 2018, building anticipation for this return. Pre-orders for Don't Be Dumb are currently available in vinyl and CD formats, signaling strong interest in his refreshed sound.
