Aprilia rider Jacopo Cerutti injured in Romania rally crash

Aprilia factory rider Jacopo Cerutti sustained serious leg injuries after colliding with a car during the RO Rally Marathon in Romania last week. The rider, who was not at fault, is now under observation at Bacău Hospital ahead of planned surgery.

Cerutti was competing in the sixth day of the rally when the head-on collision occurred on a timed special stage. He suffered a displaced and fragmented complete fracture of the tibia and fibula in his right leg along with a broken left patella.

Medical staff provided initial stabilisation at Bacău Hospital where Cerutti remains in satisfactory general condition. Surgery is scheduled for the morning of July 21 at Bucharest University Hospital before his return to Italy.

The RO Rally Marathon is the third round of the European Tout Terrain Rally Cup. Cerutti won the event in 2025 but his injuries are expected to sideline him for the remainder of the season.
