Arch Linux installer releases version 3.0.15 with new features

Arch Linux's menu-based installer, Archinstall, has reached version 3.0.15, introducing support for the rEFInd boot manager and other enhancements. Released on December 31, 2025, the update improves installation options for printing, desktops, and power management. It will become the default in the upcoming Arch Linux 2026.01.01 ISO snapshot.

Archinstall 3.0.15, the latest stable version of Arch Linux’s menu-based installer, was released on December 31, 2025. This update brings several new features aimed at simplifying and enhancing the installation process for users of the popular Linux distribution.

Key additions include support for the rEFInd boot manager, which offers a graphical boot interface alternative to GRUB. The installer now handles CUPS, the Common UNIX Printing System, for easier printer setup during installation. Stable integration with the COSMIC desktop environment has been added, along with a timer for the post-install screen to improve user experience. Power management options now support power-profiles-daemon and tuned daemons.

Further enhancements allow users to explicitly select additional repositories and configure Zram algorithms dynamically based on best practices. The IWD wireless daemon is now available as a network backend option. Other changes make the removable location the default for bootloader installation, dynamically adjust LVM /root size, add a symlink for /etc/resolv.conf when using systemd-resolved, and refine language display handling.

Bug fixes address issues like mirror list hanging when the /status endpoint is down, removal of the GRUB removable fallback path, improved menu filtering and sorting by priority, and corrections for upcoming NVIDIA driver menu ordering.

Users can download the source tarball from the project's GitHub page or update via Arch Linux repositories using sudo pacman -Sy archinstall. Verify the version with archinstall -v. This release will be the default installer in the Arch Linux 2026.01.01 ISO snapshot, set for January 1, 2026.
