Baby girl found abandoned in Pejaten nasi uduk cart

A two-day-old baby girl was found abandoned in a nasi uduk cart on Jalan Pejaten Raya, Pasar Minggu, South Jakarta, on March 3, 2026. The infant was reportedly left by her 12-year-old brother with a note stating their mother died during childbirth. Jakarta Deputy Governor Rano Karno has asked the Social Services Agency to handle the case.

On Tuesday, March 3, 2026, around 17:30 WIB, a baby girl was found in a nasi uduk cart in front of a resident's house on Jalan Pejaten Raya, Pasar Minggu, South Jakarta. The infant, estimated to be two days old, was inside a Family Mart shopping bag, wearing a blue teddy bear outfit, and wrapped in a white baby blanket with a cow cartoon motif. Accompanying items included milk, wet tissues, baby gloves, and a note.

Pasar Minggu Police Chief, Kompol Anggiat Sinambela, confirmed the discovery. "Witnesses also found baby supplies like milk, wet tissues, baby gloves, and a piece of paper with writing. The paper contained a message from a family member of the baby," he said. The note was written by Zidan, who identified himself as the 12-year-old brother of the baby named Ameera Ramadhani, born on March 2, 2026. The note read: "Assalamualaikum, to the lady/sir who finds my sibling, I am Zidan and I ask for help to take care of my sibling, because my mother died during childbirth, please treat her like your own child, because I will not look for or visit her again, I do not want her future to be like mine. Thank you."

Residents reported to the local community policing officer, and police received the information at 17:43 WIB. The baby was taken to the Pasar Minggu Sub-District Health Center for medical care. Police collected witness statements and CCTV footage from the area.

Jakarta Deputy Governor Rano Karno learned of the case and instructed the DKI Social Services Agency (Dinsos) to act. "We will definitely be proactive, especially since it's in the media. I was the first to share it with the relevant agency to address or anticipate it," he said at the DKI City Hall on Thursday, March 5, 2026. Police suspect the baby was intentionally abandoned by family members.
