Bebe Rexha tops Billboard dance charts with New Religion

Bebe Rexha celebrated her single 'New Religion' reaching number one on two Billboard dance charts. The achievement marks her first such success as an independent artist. She shared the news on Instagram, calling it a shared win with her fans.

Bebe Rexha announced on Instagram on May 5 that her single “New Religion” had topped the Billboard Dance/Airplay and U.S. Dance Radio charts. “First I wanna say to the fans this isn’t just my win. This is our win,” she wrote. The track, her first release since going independent, has also entered the Top 40 on digital song sales, pop airplay, and hot dance/pop songs charts. Rexha described the milestone as more meaningful than any previous accolade because it came on her own terms. “Going independent was so scary, I honestly thought it was over for me. I know that sounds dramatic but the last 7 years were a battle and I was suffering in silence,” she shared, alongside a tearful video from earlier this year reacting to parting ways with Warner Music in January. After leaving Warner, Rexha signed with Empire, an independent distribution company offering label and publishing services. She released “New Religion” in March and announced her new album Dirty Blonde, set for June 12. “Now I’m free and I’m surrounded by people who celebrate and uplift me. Thank you @empire for being my backbone. This feels like a rebirth and the sick thing is, we’re just getting started,” Rexha added.
