Billy Strings announces fifth album So Much for Goodbyes

Bluegrass musician Billy Strings has revealed his upcoming fifth studio album, So Much for Goodbyes, set for release on August 28 via Reprise Records. The project, produced by T Bone Burnett, honors the artist's late mother.

Strings dedicated the album to Debra Apostol, who died in 2025. Her artwork appears on the cover, and the musician described the work as a way to process grief through song.

In a statement, Strings said the record turns heartbreak into art while relying on his guitar as a coping tool. This marks the first collaboration between Strings and producer T Bone Burnett.

The lead single, “Burn the Other End,” is now available. Strings is currently taking a break from touring ahead of the album's August release.
