Boox unveils Go 10.3 Lumi E Ink tablet with Android 15

Boox has released the Go 10.3 Lumi, a refreshed version of its 10-inch E Ink tablet. The device runs Android 15 and features a new front light for better visibility in various lighting conditions. It is available for pre-order starting at $420.

Boox, known for E Ink tablets that access the Google Play Store, has introduced the Go 10.3 Lumi as an update to its previous Go 10.3 model. Unlike many E Ink devices focused on reading and note-taking, this tablet supports a range of Android apps, including email and text-based social media, though it may struggle with video content or fast-paced games due to the screen technology. Boox describes it as suitable for non-animated games like crossword puzzles. The new model adds a front light, enabling use in natural sunlight or low-light environments, addressing a limitation of the predecessor that required ambient light. Despite this addition, the Go 10.3 Lumi is lighter at 12.8 ounces and thinner at 4.8mm. Its specifications include an octa-core processor, 4GB of RAM, and 64GB of storage. The upgrade to Android 15 from the prior Android 12 brings improved security—crucial since Google ceased official support for Android 12—along with better memory management, multitasking, and user interface performance. Boox notes that E Ink devices can feel sluggish, so these enhancements aim to improve responsiveness. Additional features include integration with external keyboards and built-in speakers for app navigation. Battery life is described as substantial, optimized for extended use, with the company stating users can work all day without anxiety over power. Pre-orders are open now, with the front-lit Go 10.3 Lumi priced at $450 and a version without the light at $420.
