Charles Leclerc topped opening practice for the Monaco Grand Prix with a lap of 1m13.978s as Ferrari secured a 1-2 finish ahead of the weekend.
Leclerc, driving at his home circuit, finished 0.226s ahead of teammate Lewis Hamilton. The result backed up pre-weekend expectations for the team due to the SF-26's strength in slow-speed corners. The session featured two red flags. Isack Hadjar crashed his Red Bull at the Turn 15-16 chicane with 25 minutes remaining, while Fernando Alonso later hit the barrier and scattered parts of his Aston Martin across the track. Max Verstappen placed third, 0.513s off the pace. Kimi Antonelli was fourth and George Russell fifth, with Lando Norris sixth for McLaren.
