The disruption began around 3 p.m. PT and peaked with hundreds of reports on outage tracking site DownDetector. Users saw a 'Content failed to load' error or blank pages, with the issue concentrated in major U.S. cities including Seattle, Sacramento and Los Angeles.
Initial reactions on X to the ChatGPT outage include users reporting access issues and service disruptions, humorous calls to 'put the ChatGPT down' to discourage AI-generated content, and status monitoring tools confirming the brief downtime for OpenAI's service.
