São Paulo's Civil Defense sent over 11,000 humanitarian aid items to Ribeirão Preto and nearby cities after Friday's (24) storm. The event caused one death, roof damage and power outages.
The storm hit Ribeirão Preto and interior São Paulo municipalities on Friday (24), with wind gusts up to 70 km/h and 319 lightning strikes recorded in the city until Saturday (25). A 90-year-old man died in a collapse. The city hall declared a state of emergency and public calamity.
Civil Defense distributed 11,384 items, including basic food baskets, mattresses, blankets and 6,000 tiles. Eleven water trucks reinforced water supply. Teams are clearing debris and removing trees in Ribeirão Preto, Guariba, Dumont, Taquaritinga and Pradópolis.
CPFL Paulista reported 6,232 units still without power Sunday morning (26) in Ribeirão Preto, with 98% already restored. About 300 teams work on rebuilding towers and poles. Governor Tarcísio de Freitas cited winds up to 160 km/h measured locally.
