Colorado man pleads not guilty in girlfriend death case

Brandon Mumma faces charges of tampering with a deceased body and evidence after his girlfriend Jax Gratton was found dead in Lakewood in 2025. Prosecutors say he hid her remains in a narrow space between buildings.

Brandon Mumma, 41, entered a not guilty plea last week in connection with the death of his girlfriend, Jax Gratton. The charges stem from events in Lakewood, Colorado, where Gratton was last seen alive in April 2025. Surveillance footage showed Mumma entering an apartment early on April 16, 2025, and later disposing of trash bags. Gratton's body was discovered on June 6, 2025, wedged in a locked 4-foot space between two buildings. An autopsy found no clear cause of death, though drugs were present in her system. Mumma told police she had overdosed on GHB. Mumma is due back in court on July 30 and is scheduled to go on trial in November.
