Construction begins on new Gamlis IP

Work on rebuilding Gamlis IP in Uppsala began on June 18. The new facility with a heated artificial turf pitch is expected to be completed in October 2027.

The first sod was turned today for the rebuild of Gamlis IP. The existing grass pitch will be replaced with a heated artificial turf pitch. The area will also gain a new service building, stands and improved facilities for players and spectators.

The investment forms part of the municipality’s efforts to increase access to football pitches in different neighborhoods. The heated artificial turf will make it easier to play during the winter months and reduce the need to travel to other facilities.

Gamla Upsala SK, the home club, will gain better conditions for its operations. The venue will mainly host broad and semi-elite football and serve as a complement to Studenternas IP.
