Cybertruck rolls over and breaks gas line in Flour Bluff crash

A Tesla Cybertruck crashed and rolled over in Flour Bluff, Texas, on Thursday, breaking a gas line and causing road closures. The 45-year-old driver lost control due to excessive speed but emerged uninjured. Emergency crews repaired the damage, and roads reopened by late morning.

The incident occurred on Flour Bluff Drive between Purdue Road and Division Road in Corpus Christi, Texas. According to the Corpus Christi Police Department, the 45-year-old male driver was traveling at excessive speed when he lost control of the vehicle.

CCPD Lt. A. Treviño described the sequence of events: “It appears to have rolled over. We’re not sure how many times, but there’s damage on the roof of the vehicle.” The truck then veered off the road, landing in a nearby yard and striking a gas meter, which damaged a gas pipeline. “It ended up landing in that yard over there and broke a gas pipeline,” Treviño added.

No injuries were reported to the driver or others involved. Fire crews quickly responded to address the broken gas line, ensuring safety in the area. A section of the road remained closed for several hours following the crash.

By 11:08 a.m., Nueces County ESD No. 2 announced on Facebook that the affected roads had reopened, restoring normal traffic flow. The event highlights the potential hazards of high-speed driving, particularly with a vehicle like the Cybertruck, though police have not released further details on contributing factors.
