Daisy Edgar-Jones and Emilia Jones have been cast as leads in the upcoming Irish period revenge thriller Bad Bridgets, directed by Rich Peppiatt of Kneecap fame. The film, inspired by a historical book on Irish emigrant women, will shoot in Northern Ireland and Ireland next spring. LuckyChap Entertainment and Coup d’Etat Films are producing, with sales launching at the American Film Market.

Project Overview

Bad Bridgets marks the second feature film for writer-director Rich Peppiatt, following his acclaimed debut Kneecap, which earned a BAFTA for outstanding debut by a British filmmaker and garnered multiple awards including seven British Independent Film Awards. The script draws from the book Bad Bridget: Crime, Mayhem, and the Lives of Irish Emigrant Women by Elaine Farrell and Leanne McCormick. It was optioned earlier this year by Peppiatt and producer Trevor Birney through their banner Coup d’Etat Films, launched in 2024, and developed with support from Queens University, Belfast.

The story follows a young woman who receives a mysterious letter, propelling her from famine-ravaged Ireland to 19th-century New York, where she joins the notorious Irish 'Bridgets' known for causing mayhem in the city.

Production Details

LuckyChap Entertainment, founded by Margot Robbie and others, is producing alongside Coup d’Etat. Oscar-winning production designer James Price and costume designer Kate Hawley are attached. Principal photography is scheduled for spring 2026 in Northern Ireland and Ireland.

FilmNation Entertainment will handle international sales, launching the package at the American Film Market, while WME Independent represents domestic rights.

Cast and Crew Representation

Daisy Edgar-Jones, known for Twisters and Normal People, is represented by UTA, B-Side Management, and Sloane, Offer, Weber, Dern. Emilia Jones, an Oscar nominee for CODA, is repped by CAA, Brillstein Entertainment Partners, and the UK's Artist Rights Group. Peppiatt is with WME, Anonymous Content, and MMB Creative.

Kneecap, Peppiatt's 2024 Sundance hit starring the rap trio and Michael Fassbender, was Ireland's submission for the 2025 Oscars and made the international feature shortlist.
