Delta Marine unveils 125-foot Longtail superyacht concept

American shipyard Delta Marine and Italian designer Roberto Curtó have collaborated on a new 125-foot superyacht concept named Longtail. Inspired by automotive longtail designs, the yacht emphasizes outdoor living and social spaces. The concept features an extended aft area as a central hub for entertaining.

Delta Marine, an American shipyard, and Roberto Curtó Design, an Italian studio, recently announced their collaboration on the Longtail superyacht concept. The 125-foot (38-metre) vessel draws inspiration from the longtail automotive designs, such as those from Pagani, Porsche, and McLaren, evoking Le Mans racers and hypercars. As the shipyard stated, "Inspired by the longtail concept, it recalls the world of aerodynamic forms and elegant performance, reinterpreted through an architectural and marine lens."

The design prioritizes outdoor living, reflecting Italy's coastal lifestyle with expansive decks and open-air settings. The aft serves as the social heart, featuring an extra-large pool integrated into a beach club, with steps leading to the swim platform. Nearby, side sofas in the cockpit slide outward to create a dancefloor or panoramic lounge, adaptable for various occasions. Additional al fresco areas include lounges on the upper deck and bow, promoting a seamless connection between interior and exterior spaces.

Inside, the yacht offers five cabins for up to 10 guests, with a clean, contemporary aesthetic using natural materials and diverse textures for a warm feel. Large, rounded windows on the main deck and lower windows in the cabins provide ocean views, while the sky lounge incorporates natural wall coverings. The interior is described as both expansive and personal, with an atmosphere that is "fresh and sensual."

Roberto Curtó noted, "In the finning motion of a long tail, functionality finds its formal elegance." Delta Marine vice president Michelle Jones added, "Working with Roberto has been inspiring. His vision is playful, expressive and confident. He’s pushed us to think differently about what a Delta yacht can be." No details on propulsion were provided, but the concept marks a fresh direction for the yard, blending precision engineering with avant-garde design for owners who view yachting as adventure and art.
