DIIV has announced its new album Zirp! through a hotline message sent to fans. The record, produced by A. G. Cook, is scheduled for release on October 30.
The band made the stealth announcement after mailing details to supporters and posting teasers online. Zirp! follows the 2024 release Frog in Boiling Water and represents the group's shortest gap between albums.
The period between records included personal challenges for frontman Zachary Cole Smith and his wife, including the birth of their second child and the loss of their home in the Altadena wildfires. The band issued the single "Return of Youth" in May to address those events.
A. G. Cook, who produced the album, has also collaborated recently with Charli XCX on her project Music, Fashion, Film. The hotline message described Zirp! as "the future of alternative multimedia entertainment."
