Disney kicks off Week of Wishes with Make-A-Wish

Disney has launched its Week of Wishes, a weeklong campaign marking 45 years of partnership with Make-A-Wish. The initiative highlights over 175,000 wishes granted worldwide and features special events for wish children. Highlights include a revamped Wish Lounge and surprises for families at Disney parks.

Disney, the largest WishMaker for Make-A-Wish, grants wishes every hour and has supported more than 175,000 children with critical illnesses globally. This week, the company rededicated the Wish Lounge in Magic Kingdom, a restful space renovated with input from former wish recipients like Abigail Hoyle, now a Disney cast member. Alumni signed an inspirational wall there. Disney Experiences Chairman Thomas Mazloum and Walt Disney World President Jeff Vahle surprised six-year-old Paxton from Pennsylvania, who has a gastrointestinal disorder, with a visit alongside Mickey and Minnie Mouse. The Week of Wishes spotlights 200 wishes, including a first-of-its-kind Avengers experience called Wishes Assemble at Disneyland Resort for nearly 40 wish kids and families. Other highlights feature wish children performing in Disney's Aladdin on Broadway, announcing NFL first-round draft picks on ESPN, and receiving invitations to the Mandalorian and Grogu premiere. Disney CEO Josh D’Amaro stated, “We’re honored that so many wish kids choose Disney. Our stories bring joy, hope, and inspiration to millions around the world, and that’s a privilege we take very seriously.” Make-A-Wish America President and CEO Leslie Motter added, “For wish kids and their families, Disney represents joy, imagination, and hope during some of their most difficult moments.” Former CEO Bob Iger will receive the inaugural WishMaker Lifetime Achievement Award for granting over 110,000 wishes during his tenure. A new brand spot, “Drawn to You,” directed by Goh Iromoto, showcases real wish stories. Make-A-Wish and Charitybuzz launched a sweepstakes where donations enter participants for a VIP Disneyland weekend and Avengers: Doomsday premiere tickets.
