The game kicked off with Rögle dominating the first period, fueled by their passionate home crowd. Färjestad's Melker Thelin stood tall, making key saves to keep the score level. Thelin finished with 26 saves out of 27 shots faced, outdueling Rögle's Christoffer Rifalk in a tense matchup between the netminders. Färjestad captain Linus Johansson opened the scoring in the second period with the game's first goal, putting his team up 1-0. Johansson later described his approach before the goal: “Först ser jag att det inte är en bra defensiv back…” without naming Rögle's Mark Friedman, whom he had tussled with earlier, leading to penalties for both players in the first period. The second period saw chaos erupt for Rögle. Defenseman Lucas Ekeståhl-Jonsson took a heavy hit from Färjestad's Emil Alba and appeared groggy, unable to continue. Moments later, forward Simon Zether collided with Färjestad's Luke Philp, hurting his leg and also exiting the game. The third period brought the biggest hit when Rögle center Josh Dickinson crashed into Färjestad defenseman Adam Ollas Mattsson after playing the puck away.
