FIDE-rated chess tournament planned for Peren in February 2026

The Inter-School Chess Association, Ngwalwa Circle, will host a FIDE-rated chess tournament in Peren, Nagaland, from February 10 to 14, 2026. Organized under the Nagaland Chess Association and All India Chess Federation, the event aims to boost competitive chess in the state. It marks the second such rated tournament in Nagaland's history.

The AICF Chess for Everyone FIDE Rating Open Chess Tournament 2026 is set to take place at the Ngwalwa Village Council Hall in Peren. This initiative by the Inter-School Chess Association, Ngwalwa Circle (ISCA-NC), supported by the Nagaland Chess Association (NCA) and the All India Chess Federation (AICF), seeks to promote the growth of chess across Nagaland.

As the second FIDE-rated event in the state, it represents a key step in developing the sport locally. Players from various parts of Nagaland are invited to join, fostering wider participation and skill enhancement.

The tournament will follow a 9-round Swiss League system, with each player receiving 90 minutes for their moves plus a 30-second increment per move. This format ensures fair and strategic play over the five-day period from February 10 to 14.
