Four arrested in Chennai for assault at DRI office

Police arrested four suspects on June 8 after they allegedly assaulted a security guard and attempted to steal items from a vehicle at the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence premises in T Nagar.

The incident occurred in the early hours of May 31 at the DRI office on G.N. Road. Security guard John Kennedy was tied up and assaulted by two masked intruders who broke a car window before fleeing. Police registered a case at Teynampet station and used CCTV footage to identify the suspects. The four men, identified as Abdul Hadi, Anoop, Adithyan and Simlal, were arrested in Thanjavur and brought to Chennai. The suspects were interrogated and produced in court on June 8, where they were remanded to judicial custody. Two face masks were seized during the inquiry. Police continue efforts to trace other suspects.
