In the Champions League league phase, German representatives Eintracht Frankfurt and FC Bayern München suffered clear defeats. Frankfurt hosted Atalanta Bergamo and lost 0:3 in front of around 60,000 spectators. The goals for the Italians came from Ademola Lookman in the 60th minute, Éderson in the 62nd, and Charles De Ketelaere in the 65th. Coach Dino Toppmöller fielded the same starting lineup as in the previous win against Köln. In the first half, Frankfurt dominated possession, with Ritsu Doan pressuring the opponents. After the break, Eintracht collapsed, especially after striker Jonathan Burkardt's knee injury, replaced by Jean-Mattéo Bahoya. With four points from five games and three losses, Frankfurt must fight for the playoffs and travels to FC Barcelona on December 9. Atalanta Bergamo leads with ten points.

FC Bayern München ended its 18-game winning streak in London against Arsenal with a 1:3 loss (1:1 at halftime). Jurriën Timber scored with a header from a corner in the 22nd minute for Arsenal. The 17-year-old Lennart Karl equalized in the 32nd minute after a counter set up by Joshua Kimmich and Serge Gnabry. In the second half, the English side dominated with set pieces: Noni Madueke made it 2:1 on a counter in the 69th minute, and Gabriel Martinelli sealed it in the 76th by outpacing goalkeeper Manuel Neuer. Neuer appeared unsteady on the first and third goals. Arsenal, Premier League leaders and with four CL wins to start, benefited greatly from set-piece coach Nicolas Jover. Bayern coach Vincent Kompany called the match a 'test.' Serge Gnabry commented on DAZN: 'One must accept losing sometimes. Arsenal is a very strong opponent.' Despite the loss, the round of 16 remains within reach for Bayern.
