God of War Laufey hinted for 2027 disc release

Santa Monica Studio has confirmed that the next God of War game will be available on disc. The statement points to a possible release before the end of 2027.

The developer posted a tweet over the weekend confirming the physical edition. This follows Sony's announcement that it will stop all physical media production starting January 2028.

The tweet comes after the game's reveal during Summer Game Fest. It stars a new protagonist named Faye and is in development exclusively for PlayStation 5.

A panel is scheduled for San Diego Comic-Con later this month. Game director Ariel Lawrence and creative head Cory Barlog are expected to appear with cast members.

No exact release date has been set. The project has no plans for a PC version.
