Rockstar Games has made GTA Online free to download and play on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S through November 17, with no subscription required for online multiplayer. This limited-time offer coincides with new missions offering discounts on upcoming mansion properties. Players can also earn special rewards by logging in before the December update.
Free Access Details
GTA Online, the multiplayer component of Grand Theft Auto V, is available as a standalone title since 2022 and normally costs $20. However, from November 13 through November 17, 2025, it is free on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. Rockstar announced this in a blog post, emphasizing no need for PS Plus or Game Pass Essential to access online features.
After the free period ends, players must purchase the game or subscribe to GTA+ for $8 per month, which includes GTA Online, Red Dead Redemption, and additional perks.
Upcoming Mansion Update
The next major GTA Online update arrives in December, introducing new mansion properties from Prix Luxury Real Estate. Rockstar described it as entering 'the Los Santos high-end real estate scene' with 'unrivaled mansion properties.'
Prior to the update, three new missions are available, paying double GTA$ and RP—quadruple for GTA+ members. Completing them unlocks a GTA$ 2 million discount on the mansions. Finishing all three also grants GTA$ 1 million in cash and character cosmetics.
Additional Rewards
Logging into GTA Online between now and December 7 earns 'Black Tier VIP' status, including a free Ubermacht Revolter car.
This promotion follows the recent delay of GTA 6 to November 2026 and speculation about a Red Dead Redemption remaster based on an ESRB rating.
