Huila assembly approves 18 billion pesos for Neiva stadium

The Huila Assembly has approved 18 billion pesos for Inderhuila to cofinance the recovery of the Guillermo Plazas Alcid stadium alongside Neiva's mayor's office. The project will benefit over 5,600 athletes in 33 athletic disciplines and enhance the department's sports infrastructure. Officials emphasized the approval's role in addressing a decades-long issue.

The Huila Assembly recently approved 18 billion pesos allocated to Inderhuila, enabling cofinancing with Neiva's mayor's office for the recovery of the Guillermo Plazas Alcid stadium. According to the Assembly, this initiative will benefit over 5,600 athletes and 33 athletic disciplines, strengthening the department's sports infrastructure and contributing to the urban improvement of Neiva's Sports Village.

Assembly President Sergio Trujillo highlighted the project's importance and collaboration with the Departmental Government. “The Assembly has been the venue where projects that truly benefit all Huilenses are debated and approved. This is a firm step toward the department's progress,” Trujillo stated.

Felipe Victoria, Inderhuila's director, welcomed the decision and outlined the contributions. “From the Departmental Government, we thank the Assembly for its goodwill on this important project. The incorporation of $18 billion will allow financing, through an agreement with the city of Neiva, the recovery of the Guillermo Plazas Alcid stadium. It is a solution to a problem that has lasted decades and which today materializes thanks to the governor's will and the articulated work with the Assembly,” he explained. Additionally, Inderhuila will contribute over 10 billion pesos from its own resources, covering 50% of the total financing without generating debt or affecting the Huilenses' budget. “This project will recover the athletic track, benefit thousands of athletes, and improve the entire urban environment of the Sports Village. Political will translates into facts and real resources for Huila's sports,” Victoria added.

Juan Camilo Muñoz Lozada, Neiva's Secretary of Sports and Recreation, also expressed gratitude. “Mayor Germán Casagua Bonilla and the Sports Secretariat thank the governor, Inderhuila, and the deputies for their support. This project will enable the western grandstand and launch the stadium's first phase, which will include an athletic track and serve the entire Neiva community,” Muñoz specified.
