dr. Myta Aprilia Azmy, an intern doctor from Fakultas Kedokteran Universitas Sriwijaya (FK Unsri), died after intensive care at RSUP Dr. Muhammad Hoesin in Palembang. Her family said she complained of a heavy work schedule before falling ill. The case has been reported to the Ministry of Health for investigation.
dr. Myta Aprilia Azmy died in early May 2026 after intensive care at RSUP Dr. Muhammad Hoesin (RSMH) Palembang. She was serving as an intern doctor at RSUD K.H. Daud Arif in Kuala Tungkal, Jambi.
Her cousin, dr. Febri, said dr. Myta had complained of a heavy on-call schedule before falling ill. "Dr. Myta memang sempat, sebelum sakit, pernah sekilas menelepon ke omnya, dr. Ismet, bahwa jam jaganya cukup padat. Itu saja informasi yang kami dapatkan saat itu," dr. Febri told tvOne on Sunday, May 3, 2026.
The family outlined her medical timeline. She was treated for about six days at a hospital in Kuala Tungkal, then referred to RS Raden Mataher Jambi, with her condition worsening after returning to Palembang. "Namun, saat kembali ke Palembang, Myta mengalami sesak napas hebat dan akhirnya dibawa ke ICU RSUP Dr. Muhammad Husein. Sekitar 3 hari dirawat, Myta dinyatakan meninggal dunia oleh tim rumah sakit," dr. Febri added.
Prior to the internship, dr. Myta was declared fit during initial screening by the Ministry of Health. Ikatan Alumni FK Unsri (IKA FK Unsri) reported the case to the Ministry of Health. IKA FK Unsri General Chairman Achmad Junaidi said they handed it over for a thorough investigation.
