During the journey, they were intercepted by two vehicles and several armed individuals who forced them out of the car. The attackers headed north in the department, leaving the driver at the scene. The area where the kidnapping took place has a presence of illegal structures linked to the Jaime Martínez and Dagoberto Ramos fronts, armed groups responsible for multiple crimes in Colombia's southwestern region.
In immediate response, the National Police activated an investigative unit led by GAULA, a specialized team for kidnappings and extortions. This group is conducting search operations and intelligence tasks at strategic points in the department, focusing on the corridors between Cajibío and Piendamó, a mountainous area with difficult access.
