IPN cleaning workers protest over delayed payments in CDMX

At least 250 cleaning workers from the Instituto Politécnico Nacional (IPN) blocked Calzada México-Tacuba in Mexico City on November 21, 2025, demanding payment of salaries delayed for a month. The protest caused traffic disruptions in both directions and on the sides of Circuito Interior. Metrobús Line 6 temporarily suspended service in the area.

The IPN employees, dressed in their uniforms, protested at the intersection of Calzada México-Tacuba to denounce the debt on their salaries. They carried signs with their main demands and shouted slogans against the lack of payments. The blockade affected traffic in both directions of the roadway and on the sides of Circuito Interior, forcing motorists to seek alternatives like Avenida Marina Nacional and Insurgentes.

The Secretaría de Seguridad Ciudadana (SSC) implemented a preventive cutoff on Avenida Ribera de San Cosme westward, at the height of Naranjo, with Avenida Maestro Antonio Caso as the alternative route. Additionally, a blockade was reported around Avenida Instituto Politécnico Nacional with Avenida Montevideo, in the Gustavo A. Madero borough, though this road has already been reopened.

Due to the mobilization, Metrobús Line 6 suspended service at Instituto Politécnico Nacional station, but circulation was restored with delays. Videos on social media showed drivers turning back against traffic upon encountering the blockade.

This protest is part of the day's demonstrations in CDMX, though the main focus was the labor demand of the cleaning workers.
