IPOA officer details events before Ojwang death in court

The murder trial of teacher and blogger Albert Ojwang continued on Wednesday as an IPOA investigator described the final events before his death in court.

IPOA investigator Joshua Mutua testified before Judge Diana Kavedza-Mochache. He said Ojwang arrived at Central Police Station on June 7 2025 at 3:23 a.m. walking unaided and appeared in good condition.

CCTV footage shown in court depicted Ojwang being escorted by six DCI officers. Later he was moved forcefully between cells while officers changed clothes and covered a cell door.

Ojwang was taken to Mbagathi Hospital at 7:59 p.m. where he appeared lifeless. The officers returned him to the police vehicle at 8:11 p.m. without urgency.

The accused facing murder charges are Samson Tallam James Mukhwana Peter Kimani John Ngige Gitau Gin Ammitou Abwao and Brian Mwaniki Njue.
