Alexander Isak is in contention for a brief appearance in Liverpool's FA Cup quarter-final against Manchester City on Saturday, having completed two full training sessions since resuming team training earlier this week. The striker has been sidelined for over 100 days with a broken leg from December. Goalkeeper Alisson Becker remains out until later in the season.
Liverpool head coach Arne Slot suggested Isak could feature in a limited capacity for the match, cautioning due to the tie's potential for extra time. The injury happened in a 2-1 win over Tottenham, where Isak scored before a challenge from Micky van de Ven. Slot said: “It will take a bit of time to give him a lot of minutes but we will do the right thing in terms of building up his minutes.” He added: “It’s clear after two training sessions in 100 days, it would not make any sense to start him tomorrow.” This follows Monday's announcement of Isak's training return, boosted by Sweden's World Cup qualification.
