The civil lawsuit filed by Janel Grant against Vince McMahon and WWE has been ordered closed by a federal judge. The case will now proceed to private arbitration following a stipulation of dismissal filed by all parties.
On July 27, 2026, Judge Sarah F. Russel of the United States District Court of Connecticut directed the clerk to terminate all pending motions as moot and close the case. The order followed a joint stipulation of dismissal filed by the parties under Rule 41(a)(1)(A)(ii).
Grant filed the lawsuit in January 2024, alleging sexual trafficking and abuse. A joint motion in June 2026 outlined an agreement to move the dispute to confidential arbitration. All parties dismissed the suit with prejudice, preventing refiling in court.
The case will now advance through private arbitration as agreed by Grant, McMahon, and WWE. A separate lawsuit by former WWE ring boys alleging sexual abuse remains ongoing in Maryland.
