Juventud beats Puerto Cabello 4-0 in Copa Sudamericana

Juventud thrashed Puerto Cabello 4-0 in the Copa Sudamericana group stage at Montevideo's Estadio Centenario. Goals came from Fernando Mimbacas twice, Leonel Roldán, and Pablo Lago, all in the first half. Despite less possession, Juventud was more clinical with 12 shots on target to their opponents' 6.

Juventud took control early, with Fernando Mimbacas scoring in the 5th minute of the first half. Leonel Roldán made it 2-0 at the 24th, Mimbacas added a penalty in the 45th, and Pablo Lago sealed it at the 47th. No further goals came in the second half, but the hosts held firm.

Puerto Cabello held 58% possession and more completed passes (382 vs 201) but lacked finishing with just 6 shots on target. They received four yellow cards to Jiovany Ramos, Roberto Rosales, Pablo Lima, and Geremias Meléndez, while Juventud got one to Facundo Pérez. Referee Nazareno Arasa issued no reds.

Both sides made several substitutions in the second half, including Mimbacas off for Sebastián Guerrero for Juventud and multiple changes for Puerto Cabello. Coach Sergio Blanco's Juventud had lost to Atlético Mineiro recently, while Eduardo Saragó's side fell to Cienciano.

Juventud next plays Atlético Mineiro on May 5 at 19:00 in the Centenario, with Puerto Cabello facing Cienciano the same day at 21:30 in Misael Delgado.
