After a dominant opening, Gouiri scored first in the 19th minute from a Murillo cross. Greenwood doubled the lead five minutes later with a clean strike into the bottom corner. Traoré (34th) and Weah (40th), via a fine team move, extended the lead before halftime. Mohamed Bais pulled one back for Angers just before the break with a chipped ball over Rulli.
In the second half, Marseille managed their lead, substituting Greenwood and Gouiri around the 60th minute, with minds on their Champions League tie against Liverpool on Wednesday at the Vélodrome. Paixão added a fifth goal in the 88th minute, assisted by Højbjerg, before Hallevinah grabbed a consolation for Angers in stoppage time (92nd).
The win gives OM a three-point cushion over Lille and closes the gap to eight points behind leaders Lens. The side will host Lens in the next matchday.
