Linköping signs American center Cooper Marody from AHL

Linköping Hockey Club has signed 29-year-old American center Cooper Marody to a one-year contract. The deal runs through the spring of 2027. Marody joins from the AHL's Coachella Valley Firebirds.

The club announced the signing on July 9. Marody played 19 games with the Firebirds last season after a midseason trade from the Lehigh Valley Phantoms. He recorded 11 points in those games and has tallied 141 points in 190 AHL contests over the past four seasons.

Marody was drafted by the Philadelphia Flyers in the sixth round in 2015. He appeared in seven NHL games with the Edmonton Oilers and recorded one assist. This marks his first professional stint outside North America.

Sportchef Broc Little praised the addition. "Cooper is a very intelligent ice hockey player who has been an offensively producing player throughout his career," Little said on the club's website. Marody replaces Eskild Bakke Olsen, who departed for an NHL opportunity.
