Barker, who was 40, suffered an unexpected medical emergency during production of season 8. The couple had been together for more than four years after meeting at a Billie Eilish concert.

Barker joined ITV America in August 2020 and became a full-time executive producer in January 2026 after working on the franchise on and off for years. The exact circumstances of his death remain unclear.
