Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly chaired a meeting on Monday to advance coordination on aviation fuel supplies and Egypt's first sustainable aviation fuel project.
The meeting took place at the New Administrative Capital and included Minister of Civil Aviation Sameh El-Hefny and Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Karim Badawi. Madbouly stressed the need for close coordination to ensure uninterrupted petroleum supplies for the aviation sector while supporting efforts to modernise civil aviation and maintain safety standards.
Cabinet spokesperson Mohamed El-Homsany said the discussions covered cleaner energy solutions, particularly the production of sustainable aviation fuel to reduce carbon emissions. The project is the first of its kind in Egypt and is being implemented with technical input from the Ministry of Civil Aviation.
Minister Karim Badawi noted that Egypt meets all domestic jet fuel demand through local production. He added that the Ministry of Petroleum is upgrading refuelling stations at airports and expanding infrastructure to handle growing air traffic and peak seasons such as Hajj and tourism.
