A 46-year-old man allegedly crashed his SUV in Deerfield Beach, Florida, then carjacked a woman who stopped to assist before continuing a series of incidents at a nearby restaurant and gas station.
The incident took place shortly before noon on Saturday in the 500 block of East Hillsboro Boulevard. Cory Coddington is accused of wrapping his SUV around a tree and then taking a witness's car after she approached to check on him. Witness Shyann Figaro told WSVN that Coddington stole her vehicle as she got out to help. He drove to a Chick-fil-A, where witnesses described him as covered in blood and saying he wanted a milkshake after taking a French fry from a child. Deputies later confronted Coddington at a gas station. He was arrested after allegedly acting combative and was taken to a hospital for treatment. Authorities recovered more than 10 grams of MDMA from him. Coddington faces charges including aggravated assault, carjacking, petit theft and leaving the scene of a crash, according to the Broward County Sheriff's Office.
